OLTREPO PAVESE

The Oltrepo Pavese comprises the hilly and mountainous territory of the province of Pavia, the only section of the Apennines in the Lombardy region. It owes its name to its unique location south of the River Po, right in the heart of the Northern Apennines, literally wedged between Emilia-Romagna to the east and Piedmont to the west. In the southernmost part, just a few kilometres into the provinces of Alessandria or Piacenza, lies the border with Liguria, more specifically with the metropolitan city of Genoa.

Events and presentations on the Oltrepo Pavese

Among the region’s attractions, the following stand out: environmental biodiversity (the landscape and natural riches); cultural aspects (villages, fortresses, castles and folk events); economic aspects (local specialities, the development of innovative agricultural activities); and social aspects (isolation and efforts to combat depopulation).

A “slow region” made up of hills and mountains, situated close to the “fast-paced” and dynamic urban and metropolitan areas of the Po Valley.

The aim of this page is to showcase the most beautiful places in the Oltrepo Pavese region and to make them once again a destination for an increasingly discerning and diverse tourist market. We aim to offer an experience that brings visitors into contact with the authentic and unspoilt beauty of the Apennines, with their ancient villages, natural surroundings, culture and diverse food and wine. Not to mention the thrilling trails through ridges and woods that attract cyclists and walkers, or simply wayfarers – people in search of silence and beauty, something we all feel an ever-growing need for.
